Tim flew into Jennifer's life as an engineer with NASA. He had heard about these pretty Coriell sisters and on a business trip to Huntsville he decided to investigate. He met them at church, liked what he saw, and called me the next week to ask how he could get to know Jennifer better. I explained about courtship and he was up for the challenge. When he flew into town on business he joined our family in fun things. We ate together, saw sights, even traveled some with Tim in tow. The benefit of these group activities was that he was being evaluated by everyone, parents and sibblings. Months passed and he called me to ask for permission to court Jen. Up to this time Jennifer had been guarding her heart for me. I invited Tim to a question-and- answer session and he was eager for that. Six hours later we had a pretty good feel for who he was. And we were thrilled at the prospects. We gave permission (with Jennifer's approval) and it did not take Tim long to win her heart. He asked permission to propose and did so on a sunset beach in California. She said yes and they were married soon after. Today they have 3 children and reside in Huntsville.
We knew Rich for many years before he proposed to Johanna. Our two families were homeschooling. Although he and Jo were just friends, Rebekah and I hoped that they could be married someday. Rich graduated from Medical school before he indicated interest in courtship. We were thrilled and Jo was shocked. Rich had carefully guarded her heart by not flirting with her those friendship years. In reality she caught his eye and heart the first day he met her. Our question and answer time was somewhat shorter with Rich because we knew him. He passed our "test" and he later asked for permission to court, Jo agreed and we consented too. Soon thereafter Rich won her heart and he asked our blessing to propose. With our knowledge he took her to an exclusive, Birmingham supper club and in a private room he confessed his love and desire to be her husband. They were married a few months later. Today Dr. Rich and Jo have a daughter and they will be living in Charleston, SC as he finishes his cardiology training.
Nate grew up in our church and was away at college when Jessica was ready to court. So we missed him as God called us to Alabama. Meanwhile, he became vice president of a brokerage house in Atlanta. We saw him at a wedding where I was being very alert for prospects for my last, unmarried daughter Jessica. We caught up on his life and I saw that he was a godly guy. When I heard that his work was in the state next to ours, I made arrangements for Jes and me to meet him as we attended a classical schooling conference in Atlanta. Later we invited him to our house for a holiday. He called me later to ask how he could get to know Jes better. This was just what we had hoped would happen. Nate was OK with our courtship requirements and he was friends first with Jes as we did family things together. When he wanted to take their friendship further he asked to court. We scheduled to ask him the questiions. He passed. They courted. He proposed on the roof of a skyscaper in downtown Atlanta. They married and today they have a son.
Three daughters. Three godly fellas. Three different courtships. Three marriages. Praise God.
